Стиль — це особиста мова, а не модні тренди

Style is personal language, not fashion trends.

What actually makes people look stylish

On social media, every day teaches you how to be a stylish person and what to combine with what. But over the years in fashion retail, I’ve noticed an interesting paradox. The coolest looking people are those who don't think about the rules at all, but simply wear what they feel is theirs.

As the creative director of the concept store NEWBORN K in Kyiv, I want to share my own understanding of style. This is not just my personal vision, but also the values that our team shares and around which we have built the entire project.

Where taste comes from and why it's never about trends

It isn’t given at birth like an innate superpower — it is always an internal evolution. My personal taste was shaped by music, cinema, and Kyiv's second-hand shops of the early 2000s. It sounds simple, but that is where my view on what constitutes a high-quality item, which was never measured by the numbers on a price tag, grew from.

A sense of style is formed precisely through such vivid experience: things that make you stop and look, local culture, the people around you, and music that resonates deep within.

Style is a personal language that a person builds over years. And it is unique for everyone.

That is exactly why we at NEWBORN K avoid fast fashion. Not out of principled opposition, but because trends are always someone else's language. We are interested in helping you find your own.

Every brand is a stance

The brands at NEWBORN K are as diverse as our people. That is why we do not limit ourselves to a single style, but gather niche clothing brands from all over the world in Kyiv. They all share one thing — behind each one stands a clear design philosophy. That is exactly what makes them part of our selection:

  • Gramicci — an American brand that grew out of the climbing culture. Since 1982, it has been creating perfect pants with the signature gusset crotch and integrated nylon belt, which have become a classic of utilitarian style and outdoor aesthetics.

  • Salomon — an outdoor giant with decades of engineering experience, whose trail sneakers appear on city streets more often than on mountain paths.

  • Oakley — a legend of sports optics, with over 600 patented technologies and a recognizable futuristic design that is impossible to confuse with others.

  • Pleasures — LA punk in the fashion world, available exclusively in Ukraine at our concept store. The brand combines subcultural chaos, 90s grunge, and musical aesthetics into loud collaborations and bold streetwear.

  • A-COLD-WALL* — architecture embodied in clothing. Asymmetry, industrial textures, and the aesthetics of London. This is not about comfort in the classic sense, but about a distinct intellectual concept.

  • Heliot Emil — monochrome Scandinavian avant-garde. The Juul brothers transformed industrialism into high art through custom hardware, complex anatomical tailoring, and premium materials.

These brands are timeless not because of classic tailoring, but because they are clothes with character, behind which there is always a unique idea. Items from previous seasons are just as relevant with us as those from new collections. The value of good design does not change from season to season.

NEWBORN K CREW — our like-minded individuals, not just customers

Over the years of our space's existence, we have learned to see the people behind the clothing. And we realized that our clients go completely beyond the standard criteria of marketers.

On any given day, our concept store might be visited by a creative from an advertising agency who hasn't missed a single Kyiv party or drop, but has finally grown tired of the visual noise and is now looking for quality clothing without logos. Or a bank employee who, after a workday in a white shirt, craves to reclaim their freedom of expression. A woman over 50 walks in, inspired by her children's wardrobe and refusing to follow age-related stereotypes, and next to her is a young entrepreneur who is tired of being like everyone else copied from Instagram.

We call all these very different people the NEWBORN K Crew. Their common trait is a maximally honest approach to their own wardrobe. They choose clothes to please themselves in the mirror, not social media algorithms or colleagues at a corporate event. At the same time, we are sincerely happy to welcome those for whom an outfit is a way to brightly declare themselves to the world.

FAQ

What is style in the understanding of NEWBORN K?

Style is a personal language that a person creates over years through their own experience, taste, and surroundings. It is not about wearing the "right" brands or blindly following seasonal trends. That is why we look for brands with a clear design philosophy, rather than those that simply adapt to the market.

Why are the brands at NEWBORN K so different?

All people are different, and so are their styles. We don't try to select brands for a single aesthetic, but look for those that have their own character and a unique language.

Are items from previous seasons relevant?

Of course. The items from the brands we carry remain relevant regardless of the season, as we focus on style without trends. Good design does not lose its relevance from one collection to the next.

Who is the NEWBORN K CREW?

That is what we call our community. These are people with a developed taste or the desire to find it, for whom it is important to please themselves rather than meet the expectations of others. They vary in age, profession, and style, but they are alike in that they make their choices consciously.

Where is NEWBORN K located?

Our concept store is located in Kyiv at 20 Velyka Zhytomyrska St. We also operate an online store with fast shipping throughout Ukraine — newbornk.com.
