Gramicci is a Japanese brand founded in 1982 by American rock climber Mike Graham in California. He faced a problem: no existing clothing offered the freedom of movement necessary for climbing. The solution was pants with a gusseted crotch and full-range-of-motion inseam, allowing the leg to be lifted at any angle without tearing or restriction. Thus, an icon was born: the Gramicci Pant.
After decades of cult status among climbers and outdoor enthusiasts, the brand was acquired by the Japanese company G-Style in 1999. That's when the transformation began: the Japanese are known for their mastery of reinterpreting Western culture with heightened attention to detail, materials, and cut. Today, Gramicci is one of the most prominent brands at the intersection of outdoor and streetwear, alongside brands like Snow Peak and And Wander.
