Norda is a Canadian running and hiking footwear brand, founded in 2021 in Montreal by Nick Temo and Chris Chang. Despite its young age, the brand immediately captured the industry's attention, not through marketing, but through its materials and concept.
Norda's key idea is bio-based materials without compromising on performance. The upper of the sneakers is made from Dyneema – a material considered the strongest in the world in terms of strength-to-weight ratio. It's lighter than carbon fiber, stronger than Kevlar, and completely waterproof. The sole is from Vibram Litebase Megagrip, the gold standard for trail traction. The lacing features Dyneema threads that won't tear for years.
Norda positions itself as "the most technical running footwear brand in the world" – and this claim is backed by real material solutions, not marketing buzzwords. At the same time, the brand's visual language is distinctly minimalist: clean silhouettes, a restrained palette, no unnecessary details.
In the sneaker community, Norda quickly gained cult status: initial drops sold out in minutes, and resell prices reached several times the retail price. The brand appears in publications like Highsnobiety, GQ, and Vogue as an example of a "new generation" of performance brands.
