XLARGE is a Los Angeles-based brand founded in 1991 by actor Dino Lee and Mike D of the Beastie Boys. The store on Fairfax Avenue immediately became a cult meeting place for skaters, musicians, and artists in Los Angeles. This is where hip-hop, skateboarding, and street fashion converged — and XLARGE is at the forefront of what is now called streetwear.
The brand's logo — a gorilla — is one of the oldest and most recognizable in streetwear culture. It appeared in 1991 and has barely changed since. For over 30 years, XLARGE has remained authentic: without excessive rebranding, without chasing hype, without compromising its original identity.
Japanese culture has strongly influenced the brand: XLARGE has a huge fanbase in Japan, where the brand opened its own stores back in the 90s.
