HOKA ONE ONE is a French brand founded in 2009 in Annecy by two ultra-runners: Nicolas Mermoud and Jean-Luc Diard. They decided to do things differently: maximum cushioning with minimum weight. Using ultra-light EVA foam, they created a massive sole that weighs less than a traditional one but absorbs impact much more effectively.
HOKA's second principle is the metarocker: a curved sole shape resembling a rocking chair. This design naturally "rolls" the foot from heel to toe, reducing stress on the joints. Runners with knee or hip problems often say that HOKA has changed their perception of running.
